It is free to see me and any other paediatrician in the NHS. It is also safer to be seen in the NHS if your child is acutely unwell. Please only make an appointment to see me in the private sector if you are prepared to pay my fees. The fee listed below or as paid by your insurer covers the consultation with me and reasonable e-mail or telephone communication afterwards for clarification of anything I have said or for me to let you know results of any tests. It also covers a comprehensive summary of the consultation which is sent to you and copied to your child’s GP unless you say otherwise. Please note that all outstanding debts are chased.
Feedback is always helpful. Positive comments are nice but constructive criticism is also welcomed. Please discuss any concerns about your child’s care with me in the first instance or with Spire London East hospital if you prefer.
For self-funding families, please bring payment with you to the appointment. Debit cards or cash are accepted on my behalf at Spire London East Hospital.
Self-funding new general paediatric patient (25 minute slot): £200 (held at 2018 price until April 2020)
Self-funding new cardiology patient consultant fee only: £250 (please note that although I perform the echocardiogram, the hospital will charge you an extra fee for the echo and the ECG. Please ask Spire London East for details of these costs before making a self-funding appointment for a cardiac review.)
Self-funding follow-up (15 minute slot): £120 (held at 2017 price until April 2020)
Any investigations such as blood tests, ECGs, X-rays, echocardiograms, 24 hour tapes carry an additional charge, payable directly to the individual hospital.
For patients with health insurance, please check that your insurance covers a consultation with me before you make an appointment and bring the preauthorisation reference with you to the hospital. If coming for a cardiac assessment please check that your insurer will cover the cost of the echocardiogram and ECG as well as my fee.
Please check your policy for any excess which may be payable; for general paediatric consultations, it may be more economical to pay me as a self-funding patient if it is likely to be a one-off than pay the excess.
Please note that if you miss your booked appointment you will still be charged.
